He was fine at 9pm, and he was dead at 10 30 pm.
Thank God Jason came home when he did. He had only been in the house 20 minutes or so when it happened. If I had been alone with the boy I don't know what I would have done.
We all got to say goodbye. Jason is building a coffin-I can hear him hammering in the garage as I type. We'll bury Tommy tomorrow under a tree overlooking the river.
Thank god the ground isn't frozen.
Before we knew Tommy wasn't coming back from the Vet (ok, I knew but hadn't said anything yet) Max told me he had asked God if tommy was coming home. I asked what God said and Max told me "God said no". Then he fell asleep. We'll talk to him in the morning, but it sound's like he's working it out in his mind.
RIP TOMMY. You were a good cat.

Oh my! How traumatic for everyone! I'm so sorry to hear this.
It sounds like Max is very much prepared to cope. I'm impressed.
*hugs* What a terrible thing to have to go through.
Max is a very wise little boy.
Tommy was a beautiful cat.
Oh! So sorry LoJo. It's so awful to lose a pet. I still miss my (12-year-old)puppy, and she's been gone for years. I hope Tommy didn't suffer.
no, I don't believe Tommy suffered. We were lucky to find a vet late on a Sat. night. It happened around 9pm and by 1030 it was over. He was just fine before it happened. It was pretty fast.
Thank you everyone. I won't be piling today for obvious reasons. We are burying him today and then just doing some yardwork and having a quiet day together.
Monday I'll be back.
I am so sorry.
How terrible! I'm so sorry for your loss, he sounds like he was a great cat.
That's so sad to here! So sorry! Pets can definitely be family so I know how hard this must be!
Oh dear, I'm sorry. He was pretty. And Max is a trooper.
He was very pretty. And good. A perfect cat for a busy growing little boy too.
I'm so very sorry for you loss.
Belated condolences on losing Tommy. That just stinks.
