As you can see- I love the farmhouse style sink and open concept shelves. I would love to get rid of the upper cabinets in my kitchen, but I'm afraid of the dirt and grease that would accumulate on the dishes and glasses. So , laziness prevails over style once again....
I don't know where I got these pics from. The top looks like one that was in Domino(RIP) the bottom looks like a Martha (the antiChrist)Stewart. But I could be wrong.

Not laziness -- practicality! You have better things to do with your time than keep an artful arrangement of plates and glassware sparkling.
What Wende said. Open shelves look lovely in magazines, but in reality they'd be a pain in the neck. And you'd have to keep everything perfectly in line all the time...
Cabinet doors were invented for a reason.
White, though -- white is good.
