Kiddie meme- lets see what I can remember

Anything to avoid the wall to wall coverage of MJ's death today. I have to say, I am much more overcome with grief over Farrah's passing than Mj's though.

Kiddie Meme
.What were you afraid of as a child?
Rabbits. I saw some 50's horror movie as a child with large (car sized) evil bunnies. Maybe radiation? Anyway- I had horrid dreams about giant bunnies eating me for years. When I got older I was so scared of my back yard that I refused to be in it after dark. Which was a problem- since the only way to get the car in the garage was through the alley in-wait for it-the back yard. I was so scared that for a while I would hop the curb with my vw, drive across the front yard and park on the side of the garage. I knew my dad would be so mad and yell, but that was better than going in the back yard. I think (to this very day) that it was haunted.

What were your favorite books as a child? Do you ever reread any of them? If so, how do they hold up? Were there ever any that gave you nightmares, but you had to finish them anyway?
As a small child I read the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I have never re read them . When I was older I read grown up books- Gone with the Wind, The Godfather, The Wizard of Oz books.

As a child, how did you feel about other children? Were your friends mostly your age, mostly older, or mostly non-existent?
I had friends. I went to a small, church school so there were about 15 girls in my class and 5 boys. When we got into 4 or 5 th grade there was quite a war to see who would get to dance with a boy during dance classes for gym. It was rough on the friendships. I am still in contact with the 3 girls I was closest to growing up though.

.What was your favorite toy? Do you wish that you still had it? Do you still have it or have you bought another off eBay?
I had a ton of toys. I had every barbie doll , car, plane, house, van, camper- you name it. I loved the 3 story barbie town house. It seemed so cosmopolitan to me at the time. Then, I would take barbie out to the back yard and have her play with GI Joe and the planet of the Apes figures in the yard. I never ever liked baby dolls. Or any other doll than Barbie now that I think of it. I did have a favorite plaything when I was small- a Mrs. Beasley doll. I still have that.

well, that's it. I got hi speed today and new cable so I am off to play!

Ah, the Barbie townhouse... I was fascinated by it but didn't have one. Some of my Barbies were mysteriously archaic, with red nails and fur coats; there was but one Ken, whom none of them cared to date.

ken wasn't a favorite with me either- my gals loved the star trek guys and planet of the apes. I don't know what that says about me though...
