ideas for kitchen cabinets-IDEAS?

My kitchen is approx 8 ft x 8 ft. (2 ft cabs, 4 ft walkway, and 2 ft cabs. ) there is an area that used to be the old eat in area and is approx 8.5 ft by 9 ft. (It connects the dining room to the living room on the right of the kitchen) There is now a large built in bar/table in this area, and my husband wants to add 2 bottom cabs to the kitchen floorplan- 1 2ft cab next to the stove, 1 1f cab on the opposite side. I am tempted because right now I only have 2 lower cabs and really need the space. The new 2 ft cab would need a half wall built around it because it would "stick out" from the dining room wall.

I have a large box there right now so I can see visually what a cabinet might look like. I don't know about this....

No doubt it would take getting used to, and you'd definitely be running into it at first, but it does look like there's enough theoretical space. If I'm reading the plan properly, the one entrance is 3'10" with the new cabinet. I don't know what the rules of thumb are for such arrangements, but quick measurements say that's wider than the passage from my kitchen to main room, and than the entrance to my cubicle, neither of which looks or feels too small for comfort. At the same time, it would be a bit unconventional, so I can understand your uncertainty about how it would ultimately look.

That's my whole problem. I am not sure about it "jutting" out. I know I could use the extra space, but I don't want it to feel smaller or closed off to the rest of the house. That's why I put a huge box the size of the cabinet by the stove- to visually see it. The problem is that I still don't know.

Having it only half height should keep it relatively open, visually.
